There’s something truly energizing about experiencing design on a global scale, and this year’s trip to Milan for Salone del Mobile left us incredibly inspired. From breathtaking architecture and immersive showroom installations to thoughtful craftsmanship and emerging material trends, every corner of the city felt like a masterclass in design.
As interior designers, traveling to events like Salone allows us to stay connected to what’s evolving internationally while continuing to refine how we bring timeless, livable design home to our clients.
One of the most inspiring parts of Milan is that design isn’t confined to the trade show floors. It’s woven into the city itself — from the grandeur of the Duomo di Milano to the layered textures, fashion, food, and historic architecture around every corner.
The contrast of old-world architecture alongside modern innovation continues to make Milan one of the most influential design capitals in the world.

This year’s exhibitions leaned heavily into warmth, sculptural forms, and elevated craftsmanship. Some of the standout trends we noticed throughout the show included:
Curved silhouettes and artistic forms dominated many of the collections. Seating felt softer, more organic, and intentionally designed to create conversation.
Beautiful burl woods, dramatic stone, textured upholstery, and warm metallic finishes appeared everywhere. The emphasis was clearly on materials that feel timeless and tactile.

Many showrooms embraced neutral palettes while incorporating unexpected color moments — from deep oxbloods and warm cognacs to saturated chartreuse and mustard tones.
Lighting continues to blur the line between functional and sculptural. We saw oversized pendants, integrated lighting details, and architectural installations that transformed entire spaces.

Some of our favorite moments included discovering beautifully crafted Italian furniture collections, immersive installations, and thoughtful details that celebrated both artistry and function.
The showrooms from brands like Formitalia and Chicca Orlando showcased the level of craftsmanship and materiality that continues to inspire luxury interiors around the world.

We were especially drawn to:

Trips like this always shape the way we think about interiors moving forward. While trends come and go, the biggest takeaway from Milan was a continued return to intentionality — spaces that feel curated, layered, warm, and deeply personal.
We’re excited to incorporate many of these influences into upcoming projects through:

These mosaic marble floors at a rooftop bar overlooking the Duomo were my FAV!!

Salone del Mobile is always an incredible reminder that great design is about more than aesthetics — it’s about creating experiences, emotion, and connection within a space.
We left Milan inspired, creatively energized, and excited to continue bringing thoughtful, elevated interiors to our clients at Abide Designs.
Until next time, Milan.
