Abide Designs is a Lakewood Ranch interior design studio creating elevated, livable homes for busy families. Led by our founder Kati Ramage, we blend thoughtful design with a personal, organized approach that makes every space feel unmistakably yours.

Personality doesn’t always show up through big “statement” moments. More often, it’s the quieter, intentional decisions, what you keep, what you repeat, and what you let feel collected instead of curated.
That might look like rich wood tones instead of bleached oak. Brass accents instead of chrome. Color that feels like you, even if it’s not what people expect in Florida.
A hallway can be more than a pass-through. A gallery wall makes space for memory, and the lighting makes it feel intentional (without feeling precious).

Sometimes the most personal spaces are the ones that surprise you (in the best way). A powder bath is a perfect example. It’s small, it’s contained, and it’s where you can take a risk without committing your whole house to a new direction.
A powder room is the perfect place to let personality speak first, pattern, color, and warm brass details that feel joyful (not trendy).
Here’s the part that doesn’t get talked about enough… personality also shows up in restraint. Not every surface has to be filled. Not every corner needs something cute. Sometimes the room feels more personal when it isn’t trying so hard. When there’s a little breathing room, the pieces that matter get to stand out.
Color, texture, and form all play a role, of course, but they work best when they support the life happening inside the home. In the transition spaces like a mudroom or laundry room, these layers are what transform a utility-driven square foot into a seamless part of your story.

Personality can be practical. A mudroom that’s beautiful and functional is the kind of detail that quietly makes everyday life smoother.
If you’re a transplant (and so many people are), your taste and your history come with you, and that’s a good thing. Loving Florida doesn’t mean your home needs to look like a beach rental. Maybe your idea of comfort includes deeper colors, contrast, a little edge, or rooms that feel tailored and grounded. That doesn’t make your home less right for Florida. It makes it yours.
One of the best ways to make a home feel personal is to design around what the homeowners actually enjoy, not what the internet says a “Florida home” should be. Sports memorabilia. A game night setup. A moody lounge moment. A home bar that gets used. These aren’t theme rooms. They’re real-life rooms, designed well.

When a room reflects real hobbies and real routines, it automatically feels more personal, and more memorable.
This is what “personality lives here” looks like, clean, intentional, and still totally livable.

The point is comfort, not perfection. You don’t need your house to match. You need it to feel right. If you walk in and your shoulders drop a little ( like okay, I can exhale here) that’s good design. It’s not about following a formula or decorating for where you live. It’s about making choices that fit how you live. The homes that stick with you aren’t the most styled ones. They’re the ones with personality, where you can tell someone actually lives a life there.
And if your home already feels like you, but it still needs that last layer to feel finished, that’s exactly what Styled by Abide is for. We bring curated decor, artwork, and accessories right to your door, so your space feels pulled together, lived-in, and full of personality.
